Socialise and Mobilise

Socialise and Mobilise – Funded by South Holland District Council

In 2023, we were invited by the Communities Team at South Holland District Council to deliver a series of funded seated exercise classes within sheltered accommodation centres across the district. The initiative, titled Socialise and Mobilise, was developed in response to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had left many communal spaces underused and residents experiencing increased isolation.

The aim of the project was twofold: to improve the physical health and mobility of older adults, and to provide meaningful opportunities for social connection. The sessions offered a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where participants could move, laugh, and connect with others in their community.
To date, we have delivered sessions in four sheltered housing centres and have since extended our involvement through the intergenerational project Echoes, in collaboration with Diamondz School of Dance. Together, we have worked across ten centres, bringing together different generations through movement, storytelling, and shared experience.

We are proud to have played a role in reactivating these vital community spaces and fostering wellbeing, connection, and joy among their residents.
