Movement to Music for Parkinson's
Movement to Music for Parkinson’s – Funded by Parkinson’s UK

From November 2023 to May 2024, we were proud to deliver Movement to Music for Parkinson’s—a community-based project generously funded by Parkinson’s UK. The initiative was designed to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of people living with Parkinson’s in the South Holland area.

Thanks to this funding, we were able to establish and run a weekly movement class in Holbeach, tailored specifically to the needs and abilities of individuals with Parkinson’s. The programme reached approximately 20 participants, fostering connection, confidence, and improved mobility.

Importantly, the grant also supported the training of a new instructor, ensuring the sustainability of the sessions beyond the initial funding period. To extend the project’s reach and long-term impact, recorded sessions and exercise videos are now permanently available below, providing ongoing support and accessibility for people living with Parkinson's Disease.

While there was already clear evidence of the need for this type of service in our area, the project also highlighted the deeper barriers faced by people living with Parkinson’s. Many participants shared challenges around transport and maintaining independence, alongside a lack of accessible mental health support.

To help address these ongoing barriers, we created free YouTube videos which can be accessed via the link below. We now offer private at-home sessions within the South Holland area — fully tailored to each individual’s needs, schedule, and abilities. We also provide private sessions for organisations supporting people with Parkinson’s, ensuring that more people can access the benefits of movement and connection, wherever they are.
